Safe-Mode Golf at RBGC

Ria Bintan Golf Club has been the only golf course in Bintan that has remained open for golfers in these past months. Operations went into heightened and stepped up mode since March, and remains at this level to ensure the safety and health of our guests and staff. 

The Management and team at RBGC remain alert to the proper deployment of procedures and processes during this time. As a result, RBGC management team has implemented a whole range of safety measures at/around the clubhouse and on the golf course.

All guests visiting the club are reminded to maintain social distancing, and to sanitise their hands as often as possible the sanitiser liquid provided in all public areas.

All Ria Bintan staff reporting to work and on duty take care to follow these guidelines, such as:

Temperatures are recorded twice daily and staff on duty are required to mask-up. They are required to use hand sanitisers frequently and regularly. 

Cleaning and sanitisation of the whole property are carried out regularly especially in areas of frequent touchpoints.  

ON GOLF COURSE

As they go about their duties, all caddies are all required to mask-up. Out on the course, and for safe distancing, each golfer rides single in one buggy with one caddy.

Caddies are required to sanitise the buggy before each golf game, and thoroughly wash the buggy after the golf game. Hand sanitiser is provided in the buggy for use.

A bunker rake is kept in the buggy and only the caddy will rake the bunker after a bunker shot.

LOCKER ROOMS 

For golfers heading to the locker rooms and showers, please be assured that the assignment of lockers, benches, basins, toilet and shower facilities all follow safe distancing guidance. All lockers are sanitised before and after each golfer’s use and hand sanitisers are placed conveniently for easy access by all.

TEE OFF RESTAURANT

At Tee Off Restaurant, all staff on duty also have their temperatures recorded twice daily and are required to mask-up.

Safe distancing for seating and table arrangement is marked out for guests. Furthermore, tables and chairs are cleaned and sanitised after a golfer leaves and before another is seated for their meal or refreshment. 

Your health and safety is of utmost importance to us, so let’s practice and play safe golf!

We’ve been busy celebrating our dogs’ birthdays at home, dressing up our dogs as humans, Julie has been baking bread and even I’ve been cooking!

Mrs Aileene Thangaveloo shares:

I have been COOKING all kinds of yummy food besides running out for packed food! Also having COFFEE daily, and evening WINEOCLOCK to relax a bit!

I go for after-dinner WALKS for exercise and chased the SUPERMOON!
On some days I go to our little garden and practice CHIPPING because I miss GOLFING @riabintan !!!
Oh and finally on 13 May I could go and have a HAIRCUT! LOL!

 Members Quarterly Medals – Important Updates!

Our Medals for January 2020 which were held over is now set and confirmed to take place on 7 March 2020! Third Edition Medals will be held on 7 March 2020, day trip. Get set for a day of golf, good eats, prizes and goodie bag! All members and members guests can participate!

– Fourth Edition Medals will be held on 16 – 17 May, 2020, overnight trip.
– Final Playoff for 16 winners & runners-up (combined four medals winner & runners-up results) – will be held on 13 June, 2020.

 Road to Spring City Trip –

Important Update!

For all members and those in the running to win the trip to Spring City later this year, please be advised that there has been a slight change of plans for travel, due to the current COVID 19 outbreak.

In consultation with members on their thoughts and comments on this matter, the Management has decided that this trip will be postponed to a new date in 2021, to be advised later. Our members and golfers’ health and well-being is of utmost importance to us, and we seek your understanding in this travel postponement.

All Medals for this year, and next, will be completed at Ria Bintan as planned, and this trip will then involve all eight (8) potential winners from the 2 years’ medals events. These winners will be hosted on an all-expenses paid trip for golf in Spring City, Kunming.

All other EGP members and guests will be welcome to join the trip too, with travel packages and itinerary specially arranged for you! Do keep a lookout for our updates in each newsletter or communications from the Membership team!

Ria Bintan is constantly in contact with clubs in Indonesia, Malaysia and elsewhere to tie up this arrangement for you. First up, we would like to confirm that the following clubs look forward to welcoming you, and the terms of reciprocity for your kind attention are as follows:

• Kota Permai Golf & Country Club (Selangor, Malaysia)

Visiting RB members get to enjoy complimentary green fees on weekdays and Sunday afternoons (subject to availability)

 Driving Range for your

Practice Pleasure!

Hot off the press! Ria Bintan has most recently made some improvements to our Driving Range so that your practice session is fun and comfortable!

New tables with large, shady umbrellas have been installed, alongside chairs, a golf set rack and unlimited range balls for as long as you can hit! These have been positioned so that your little bay area is a relaxing zone for you to work on your swing, and you even get to hit off the actual turf!

Feel free to order drinks too, from Tee Off restaurant and it will be served up at your bay.

A Good Night’s Sleep –

Gold for Golfers

Many golfers love to tee-off in the freshness of an early morning and in order to do that, a good night’s sleep and rest is key! Ria Bintan recognises this golden rule and has recently brought in new pillows for the Ria Bintan Golf Lodge! Each Lodge room is furnished with four (4) pillows, 2 softer and 2 firmer ones, so that guest preference is catered for!

Utilising Room Vouchers

All members are reminded to utilise their current and expiring room vouchers for stays at Ria Bintan Golf Lodge.

Should members renew their Membership upon expiry in 2020, their unused vouchers will be extended in validity for one more year, otherwise will be rendered invalid once validity date is due.

 Members’ Appreciation Evening

Thanks to our members and guests who attended the recent year-end Members’ Appreciation Evening that was held at GolfTec in Singapore! 

Besides yummy cocktail food and some lovely organic French wine, all attendees also got to enjoy a Par 3 Putting Challenge and Nearest to Pin competition with the GolfTec simulator! The winners walked away with some goodies and prizes from Ria Bintan Golf Club! 

Thanks to all who came and had some fun, as well as our partners GolfTec and Eiffel Markets, hope you all enjoyed the chill evening!

Organic Wines from Eiffel Markets, France

All who attended the Members evening with us at GolfTec got to enjoy some lovely organic wine from France. Eiffel Markets in Singapore brings in good quality wine from the wine-growing regions of Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Loire Valley, Rhone Valley, Languedoc and Provence. Most of their wines are certified organic or biodynamic, made in respect of the environment and consumers, without the agrochemicals, oenological additives and technological processes used in commercial brands. You can expect their wines to be pure, clean, fruity and easy to drink, representing the typicity and diversity of French wine regions.

That evening, Ria Bintan had selected two wines for members’ drinking pleasure. First up was the Domaine Plouzeau, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc ‘La Bonneliere’ 2018 – which was bright, clear and had a lovely nose of exotic fruits and citrus. On the palate it’s dry, powerful with good minerality. Best served at 10 degrees Celsius and paired with a seafood platter or goat cheese salad. Only 16,000 bottles of this wine is produced each year. 

Moving on to the second wine of the evening, the Chateau de la Marjoliere, Cahors 2014 is a deep red 80% Malbec and 20% Merlot wine with a nose of violet, berries and spices. It’s palate is medium with a fruity character, delicate in tannins and acidity. This wine is best served at 16 degrees Celsius and pairs nicely with ribeye steak and french fries, duck leg confit or Provencale dishes with tomatoes and wild herbs.

Ria Bintan’s 21st

Birthday Celebrations

with Members & Golfers! 

At the recently-concluded RB21 Golf Carnival 2019, more than 100 golfers took to the field this year to celebrate Ria Bintan Golf Club’s 21st birthday! Thank you members, for coming out and supporting the event! 

It was a truly festive birthday weekend event that saw the field competing in the Saturday Par 3 Challenge, carnival games, entertainment and the Sunday 18-hole golf tournament! Such competitive fun! 

The 18-hole tournament was of particular interest, as it also encompassed the second edition of our quarterly members’ medals for the Ria Elite Challenge Trophy and Road to Spring City 2020! 

The Members’ Division results are as follows, congratulations to the winners and runners-up!

BLOCK THE DATES – EGP Members Quarterly Medals 3rd & 4th Editions

In order to qualify for the Road to Spring City challenge 2020, members must participate in at least three out of the four medals at Ria Bintan. We have just confirmed the third and fourth editions so we need you to Block the Dates!

Third Edition Medals will be held on 11 January 2020.
Fourth Edition Medals will be held on 4 April 2020.
Final Playoff for 16 winners & runners-up (combined four medals winner & runners-up results) – will be held on 18 April, 2020.

Spring City Golf Trip 2020 – 

Planning for Summer 2020!  

As mentioned in our previous newsletter, we are organising an overseas golf trip for EGP members to Spring City Golf & Lake Resort in Kunming, China. This is likely to take place in summer/mid-2020, for a 4 day 3 night trip.
The travel package and dates are being finalised and will be shared soon! Airfares are still being arranged and will be based on the airlines’ seasonal rates. Each golfer on a twin-share basis can expect to pay around S$750.00 or S$880.00 for single travellers (very approximate) and inclusions are as follows:

• Three nights’ accommodation with daily breakfast
• Two welcome dinners
• One practice round golf
• One qualifying round golf
• One round Interclub tournament golf
• One Prize Presentation dinner
• 30 driving range balls
• Round trip airport transfers (airport-resort-airport)

It’s your chance to take on the scenic but challenging 18 hole courses – Mountain and Lake. For added fun and competition, there will be the inaugural Ria Bintan and Spring City InterClub Challenge 2020. Ria Bintan Members will take on the Spring City Members for an 18-hole inter-club tournament so let’s go!

First Edition – Ria Elite Challenge Trophy,
June 2019!

The first instalment of the Ria Elite Challenge Trophy medals took place at Ria Bintan Golf Club on 22 and 23 June! Some 20 EGP Members and guests participated in an engaging round of 18 hole golf on the Ocean Blue and Ocean Green courses, on a day that was a little cloudy yet cooler for the day’s exertions.

The golfers took to the course and played through challenges, finishing the round to a System 36 scoring format. Lunch buffet spread was welcomed by the hungry golfers, and no sooner than when all started to tuck into the yummies, the skies opened and a huge rainstorm came! How fortunate that the golf round was completed, it’s been unusually wet season of late.

Prizes were handed out to the winners and runners up for Members Men, Ladies and Guest divisions, as well lucky draw prizes kindly sponsored by Ria Bintan. These included golf clubs, equipment, goodie bags as well as Ria Bintan Golf Lodge room and breakfast vouchers. No one won the Hole In One Prize of SGD 1000.00. Better luck next time!

Well done all!

Everyone had a relaxing afternoon to follow, and reconvened in the evening for a BBQ dinner spread at Tee Off Restaurant, followed with Captain Marvel for Movie Night, complete with popcorn and grilled corn munchies! The karaoke room was also set-up for all to belt out their favourite songs for further entertainment.

The following day saw our keen bunch take to the greens again for another round before departing for home.

Here’s to the next Ria Elite medals which will be integrated into the upcoming RB21 Golf Carnival 18 hole tournament taking place weekend of 19/20 October – look out for details soon! Thanks to all who participated, we look forward to seeing you compete once again in October! Members please take note that you need to participate in at least 3 (three) of the 4 (four) quarterly Medals in order to have a chance to compete for a chance to be hosted on an all-expenses paid golf trip to Spring City Golf and Lake Resort in 2020. After the 4th Medals, the winners and runners-up of each Medal will play in the Final 16 Round Edition on System 36 Stroke Play format, where the Men’s Winner & Runner-Up, and Ladies Winner & Runner-up will win the golf trip to Spring City, Kunming!

As part of our ongoing efforts to organise activities for our EGP members, there are plans for an EGP outing to affiliate club in Kunming, China. This is none other than the well-renowned Spring City Golf & Lake Resort, that boasts not one but 2 challenging yet scenic 18 hole courses to thrill any golfer!

This is likely to be held in May 2020 a little prior to the peak holiday season in summer, and we are planning a 3 day 2 night trip.

for Handicap Maintenance

Ria Bintan Golf Club are happy to maintain your handicap and keep it current as long as you submit a minimum of 10 scorecards. This way we will be able to maintain your handicap in our system. After each round of golf, just hand your card over to the marshall or Pro Shop and we’ll take care of it!
